Lovecraft's observation that, "The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown."

Novus Ordo Seclorum is Call of Cthulhu roleplaying game tournament adventure writing cult dedicated to terrifying gamers since 1985!

In the roleplaying game Call of Cthulhu the players take the roles of ordinary people, drawn into the realm of the mysterious: detectives, criminals, scholars, artists, war veterans, etc. Often, happenings begin innocently enough, until more and more of the workings behind the scenes are revealed. As the characters learn more of the true horrors of the world and the irrelevance of humanity, their sanity inevitably withers away (the game actually includes a mechanism for determining how damaged a character's sanity is at any given point). To access the tools they need to defeat the horrors - mystic knowledge and magic - the characters must be willing to give up some of their sanity for the greater good. A Novus Ordo Seclorum round of Call of Cthulhu has a reputation of being a game in which it is quite common for a player character to die in gruesome circumstances or end up in a mental institution.

Three Different Initial Rounds

THURSDAY (run by Jeff)
  • Foule is Faire - A British adventurers association takes a trip to the 1893 Columbia Exhibition in Chicago. 8 AM, Noon
  • Faire is Foule - The women of the suffragette movement do the same (all female characters). 5 PM

FRIDAY (run by Jon C)
  • Untimely Ript - Stark horror in the near future. Noon, 4 PM, 9 PM
    Dig the future! Silky tongued rich socialites sipping martinis and laughing as ID slaves count their cash. Meanwhile, the dirt poor pop happy pills and lay on smiles that never reach their eyes. Beware the women in red and their dead pregnant sisters, that’s all deceit & double entendre anyway. Just ask the Jack. When does the Jack ever lie? Dig the men in black cloaks, hiding in shadows, eating fine seafood and cracking shells, knuckles & skulls. Spit on the fascist newspapers with written lies so hard-boiled they bounce off the sidewalk. And those cops, running like white bunnies in the night. Baby, don’t get me started on the cops. Pay the Probability Matrix its due or big brother notices. Watch out for the dirty havoc chip (but ya didn’t hear it from me). Dig the firebombs smokin the scrape rooms and slaggin all their illegal antiseptic glory into Jackman rumor. Oh yeah, don’t forget to vote on Friday.
